The Weekend is Finally Here!

After a very long week of training new hires and dealing with all the BS at work, the weekend is finally here! And not just any weekend! This will be the first weekend that “Sorted” and I will be able to get away on our first road trip. We are headed to the historic city of Savannah Georgia. I am so excited about the trip!

We will be staying at the Westin Savannah Harbor Gold Resort and Spa. Since I work for the company we were able to get a great rate so Savannah here we come. I am looking forward to leaving the state of Florida and putting it all behind us.

 We will be touring the historic district, maybe a couple of ghost tours, and eating a lot. The best part will be spending time with the love of my life. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday weekend.

AH…..Friday at Last!

Well, another week has come and gone. It has been a good week but a long one. You have those days when everything seems to be a little off, other than me of course. I am always a little off. I am looking forward to relaxing and spending time with “Sorted”.

This is going to be an OZ weekend. “Sorted” has gotten hooked on the HBO series OZ. Last weekend we watched the first season and I was hooked. It is well written and I became enthralled with the story lines and some of the characters. We got the second series and “Sorted” watched it first then gave it to me. I have done my homework and I am ready to see the third season this weekend on the new flat screen TV with”Sorted”. Maybe we can act out some of the jail scenes! Wink…Wink!

Friday the 13th…Fact or Fiction!

Everyone has their own ideas about whether Friday the 13th is lucky or not. I am no different. It is just another day of the week, or so I thought. Friday started like any other day, up at 5:30, coffee, talking to “Sorted”, then at work by 8. The night before, the department installed an upgrade to the phone system and for the most part all went well. Part of my job is to monitor the calls for quality assurance and I usually listen to the recorded calls. I logged in to the system to begin my task only to find out the calls that had been recorded for the month had been completely wiped out! Now I would have to listen to live calls which is a pain since you never know if the caller will be speaking English or Spanish. Since I don’t speak Spanish, I had to sit and wait and wait and wait for a call.

Well, after about 5 hours of this I decided to take the rest of the afternoon off and rest up for the activities of the evening. I was going to meet “Sorted” and the gang at BJ’s for a night of fun and food with “Lewis” and his man. I get in the car and stop for gas. When I went to start the car nothing happened. WHAT!!!!!! I sat for a minute is disbelief because this car is only a year old and should not have problems yet. I called “Sorted” to let him know what was happening. He left the guys and came to pick me up. I kept asking people if they had jumper cables and it is amazing the reaction I got. You would think I had a gun and was robbing them. It must have been the look of desperation in my eyes or the bad hair day I was having.

 Anyway, after 2 hours of trying to start the car and waiting on a tow truck, which never came by the way, a good Samaritan was able to start the car and I got it home. Saturday, the car was towed to the dealership and I spent the morning there to find out it was just a dead battery. I guess there is some truth to the myth of Friday the 13th.

Abother week has flown by and I am glad the weekend is finally here. Unfortunately, I have to go in the office tomorrow to finish some work but I am looking forward to spending time with Sorted and the gang. It is going to be a great weekend.

Back to the Rat Race!

Well, it is back to the rat race. My vacation was one of the best I have ever had. Saturday, I was able to spend time with Leslie, my son’s girlfriend. I took her downtown to Sorted and the gangs weekly brunch spot and had a wonderful lunch. We talked about her family and her starting school in the fall. It was a very nice afternoon. She is a really sweet girl and I can tell she loves my son.

Saturday night, the four of went to Medieval Times and cheered the Green Knight on to victory only to have him cut down by Kings confidant and trainer of all the young knights. It was a great night! Sorted and my son got a long very well and I am very happy about that!

Father’s Day was bitter sweet! I met them for brunch before my son drove back to Georgia. We said our good-bye’s and off they went. I miss having my kids near me. I would love it if Shon and Leslie moved to Orlando. I know my son did some research on the salaries for police officers here. Hmmm…. you never know.

 Monday… back to the usual rat race. I had so much to get caught up with. It took me a couple of hours just to get through the emails. So this week will be a busy one. I am training a new employee so it should go by fast.

Vacation… Day 4 and 5!

I can’t believe that my vacation is almost over. This has been one of the best for me. Yesterday, my son, Shon, and I spent the day talking about life and what the future holds for him and his girlfriend. It was great just hanging out and doing what ever came to mind. We went to an arcade in the tourist district and acted like two kids playing games and having fun. We had an air hockey tournement which he won two out of three games. Then we played one of those police virtual games. He did really well, of course since he is a police officer, and all I was able to do was shoot the hostages and fellow SWAT team members. Good thing I am not a cop.

 Tonight was the best! I took Shon and Leslie to a very nice restaurant in downtown Orlando. Sorted met us there. I was pretty confident that the night would go well, and it did. Everyone had a great time! Sorted and Leslie were teaming up laughing and plotting against my son and I. And of course, the ever popular sound of the bus going “thump, thump” from time to time. After dinner, we headed to Starbuck’s for a treat then walked around Lake Eola. It was great! The best part of the night was when Shon invited Sorted to join us at Medieval Times Saturday night for dinner. I think that will probably be the best Father’s Day gift I could ever receive from him. My son has not been very comfortable about me being gay so for him to do this was huge.

 All I can say is that Sorted is an incredible man. He made my son feel very comfortable during dinner and that is very important to me. It is just another reason why I love him so much.

So, tomorrow will be another memorable day and I can’t wait. I am taking Leslie to lunch so I can get to know her a little better with out my son being there. Then it is on to Medieval Times for a little jousting!

Vacation…Day 3

Well… I can’t believe I am already half way through my vacation. It is going way too fast. Wednesday was spent at Epcot. We had a great time! My son and I did a little drinking around the world which was fun. I especially like his reaction to drinking sake at the Japan expo. The face was priceless. I am not a big drinker myself but I did have a sip and man… I don’t know how anyone could get used to that. It tasted like drinking rancid water with a touch of pesticide.

We did the usual Disney things. We rode Mission Space which was a lot fun. I, of course, was the commander and guided us to a successful mission to Mars. All in all, a very good day.

Today will be just the guys. I am taking my son to a place that has go carts and a bunch of arcades. It will great spending time with him. We have really gotten close over the years. He wants to talk about him and his girlfriend. I have a feeling that there may be wedding bells in his future. His girlfriend is really cute and sweet. At least what I have seen so far. They do make a cute couple. Every so often, they would steel a kiss when I was not looking. I am glad my son is happy. He has been through a lot and deserves someone that will make him happy.

Anyway, they will be here in an hour so I guess I better make myself look as young as possible, yea right!
